Omar Chowdhury's "Ways" Solo Exhibition
Omar Chowdhury spent two years immersed in the city of his birth, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The immersion revealed to him that religious faith and spiritual transcendence were the main influences of this densely populated city. They are, too, the drivers of Chowdury’s first major solo exhibition, Ways. The show displays his series of large-scale, moving-image works filmed over long periods of time in urban and rural settings in Bangladesh. The exhibition includes the specially commissioned Locus I, II, which documents rituals undertaken by frequenters of both a Muslim mosque and Hindu temple.
