The thought-provoking independent dance collective’s new show is running for two nights only.

Now in its third season, Sydney-based contemporary dance company New Old Now (NON)’s mission is to uplift and strengthen Australia’s emerging dance community.

After two sell-out series, the company is back with a new piece of choreography. Clouds Still Know Our Names will take place in the car park of Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter, centring themes of intimacy, time and tension through movement sequences.

Led by emotion rather than narrative, the show is inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy and its tragic lovers, Paolo and Francesca, along with the cinematic works of Italian directors Antonioni, Fellini, and Sorrentino.

The not-for-profit company is led by founder and artistic director Davide Di Giovanni and co-director Chloe Leong. “This chapter introduces NON’s most immersive experience yet,” Di Giovanni said in a press release. “Our audience will be seated in a 360-degree configuration, surrounding the performers and deepening the sense of intimacy and presence.”

This performance series sees new collaborations expanding NON’s artistic world. Vocalist and actor Mitch Riley, Georgian composer Sandro Tsikoridze and producer Dan Lywoon have collaborated to soundtrack the performance.
