Neil Perry Home Cooking Class Live on Providoor
If you’re looking for some fresh Friday night lockdown-friendly entertainment, Neil Perry has you covered. The veteran chef and Rockpool restaurateur is teaming up with fellow hospitality kingpin Shane Delia for a live-streamed home cooking class hosted by Providoor.
Perry will present a pan-Asian menu that draws on his extensive experience cooking for some of the country’s finest restaurants. Tickets cost $180 and include a Providoor box containing all the ingredients you need to whip up a feast for two worth staying in for. All you need to provide is basic kitchen equipment – chopping board, knife, mortar and pestle or blender, bowls, plates and a couple of pots and pans – and plenty of enthusiasm.
Broadcast on Providoor Instagram Live, Perry will guide viewers through creating four delicious dishes from his home kitchen: chicken salad with a versatile black vinegar and chilli dressing; a spicy and citrusy “tingling” prawn salad; the chef’s signature steamed snapper fillet with ginger and shallot; and red-braised pork hock and shiitake mushrooms, a showstopper thanks to its umami-rich sauce and melt-in-your-mouth pork. For dessert, there’s a chocolate mousse from Perry and the Providoor team.
Make a night of it and add drinks – optional extras include wine pairing (a bottle of 2020 Mac Forbes Pinot Noir and a bottle of 2015 Vinden Semillon), a Native Negroni for two, or a Cold Drip Old Fashioned for two.
The class will be broadcast on Providoor Instagram Live at 7pm on Friday 13 August. If you can’t make the live class, the recording will be available later on Instagram at @providoor. Order by Monday, August 9 to receive your kit on Thursday 12 August. See more information or book a spot at the Neil Perry at Home Cooking Class at Providoor.
