National Indigenous Art Fair 2026

The annual National Indigenous Art Fair (NIAF) is back at subterranean events space The Cutaway, hidden beneath Barangaroo Reserve. Now in its seventh year, the NIAF brings together more than 100 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists across more than 30 Indigenous art centres.

The market opens on Friday July 3, with a performance by Darumbal and Tongan R&B singer-songwriter Mi-Kaisha as well as a Yuin choir Djinama Yilaga. Plus, there’ll be a Wiradjuri and Dharug song and dance performance and a fashion show curated by model Billie-Jean Hamlet, featuring designers Maara Collective, Mimmim Design, Miimi & Jinda, Clair Helen, Lillardia Briggs-Houston and Jarawee.

The line-up of stalls includes works by emerging artists Kieren Karritpul from Merrepen Arts; Joey Nganjmirra from Injalak Arts and Culture Centre, who’s known for his bark paintings; Karen Rogers, represented by Ngukurr Arts; and Valerie Brumby from Walkatjara Art. Works range between $100 to $30,000.

The fair’s exhibition, The Living Room, curated by Australian actress Miah Madden, brings together works from many of the participating art centres. See paintings, textiles, furniture, installations and moving image artworks.

Tickets cost $10 for children, concessions, and seniors, and $15 for adults. All proceeds go directly back to First Nations communities and artists. Children under 12 can enter free of charge.
