Entertainment

413 George Street, Sydney

From December 26th, 2025

Sydney is about to get delightfully disorienting. This December, the Museum of Illusions makes its Australian debut, offering mind-bending exhibits from holograms and gravity-defying rooms to giant 3D illusions, and more.

If the summer heat doesn’t bend your mind, this will. Come December, George Street will transform for the Australian debut of the Museum of Illusions – a private museum that’s already won over millions across 26 countries.

Spread across 9000 square feet, the multi-faceted museum will offer punters of all ages the chance to question reality and experience the inexplicable. Step inside and explore more than 80 interactive exhibits – from gravity-defying rooms and larger-than-life 3D illusions, to holograms and mind-bending perspective zones, where visual tricks create surreal depth, warped proportions and optical illusions that challenge the way you see space. Blending science with sheer spectacle, each installation promises to make you laugh out loud, scratch your head and reach for your camera all at once.

Museums like this are rare, and the team has tailored it especially for Sydney. Local inspiration runs through the design, paying tribute to life in the coastal city. Step into the Reversed Room, where a classic Aussie pub gets a topsy-turvy twist. Marvel at the Building Illusion, inspired by the city’s heritage architecture and soaring atriums. And don’t miss Following Eyes, a playful nod to Bondi’s swimmers and surfers.

Beyond the exhibits, Museum of Illusions Sydney is a place to learn, play and reconnect with your sense of curiosity. It’ll also host private events, team-building sessions and educational programs. There’s something for everyone – families, friends, creators and anyone eager to experience reality a little differently.

“Sydney’s creative spirit, diversity and love of shared experiences make it the perfect home for our next museum,” says Kim Schaefer, CEO of Museum of Illusions, in a statement. “We’re excited to bring our blend of service, science and spectacle to Australia for the first time.”
