Mov'in Boat Floating Cinema
A floating cinema experience is coming to Darling Harbour this summer, giving movie-goers the chance to socially distance, indulge their inner water baby and catch cult flicks all once. By the same group that brought Sydney the Mov'in Bed and Mov'in Car drive-in cinema experiences, Mov'in Boat will offer several ticket types that'll keep even the most water-adverse punter happy.
Guests can hire one of 40 rowboats (from $119.90 per boat, fits up to four people), and take a spin around the harbour before the film starts. They've been designed with extra-comfy seats so you won't end the evening with a stiff neck. There is also a floating platform with 65 summer beds that fit up to three people each (from $99.90). A VIP section run by The Star will have the best beds in the house, with tables to hold meals from restaurants such as Flying Fish, Black Bar & Grill and Sokyo (from $149.90). Or, if you have your own boat – whether it's an old dinghy or a luxury yacht – you can bring that, too ($49.90 per vessel).
A giant movie screen (complete with 30 surround-sound speakers) will screen classics such as Dirty Dancing, Casablanca, Elf and Free Willy, as well as newer films including Tenet.
If you like to snack as you catch a flick, get pizza, fish'n'chips, buckets of prawns, Nutella waffles and bottomless popcorn delivered to your vessel via jetski. And two floating bars will offer wine, slushie cocktails, beers and soft drinks.
