Ten new drinks and a free Sydney pop-up where you can taste them all before anyone else.

Drinks aren’t just drinks anymore. That’s the thinking behind McCafé s biggest beverage launch since the chain landed in Australia back in 1993 – and Macca’s is marking it with a one-day-only pop-up in Sydney this weekend.

The McCafé Little Drinks Bar sets up shop in Darlinghurst on Saturday July 11 from 2pm to 5pm, with free drinks while they last. It’s your chance to taste the new range before it rolls out nationwide on Wednesday July 15.

Ten new beverages span three fresh categories – refreshers, energisers and crafted sodas – plus a new run of iced coffee. Highlights include the brown sugar shaken espresso with oat milk (available only in Australia), the strawberry watermelon refresher finished with freeze-dried strawberries, and two Sprite-based crafted sodas, including a berry blast topped with cold foam. If you’re after a hit rather than a treat, the Red Bull-based energisers have you covered, one of them crowned with freeze-dried dragon fruit.

The launch lands alongside McDonald’s research suggesting more than half of Australians pick a drink based on their mood, and 54 per cent see one as a reward after a busy day. Make of that what you will – but a free drink on a Saturday afternoon needs no justification.
