Making Worlds at the Art Gallery of NSW
When the Art Gallery of NSW's new North Building opened in late 2022, a highlight was the Making Worlds exhibition, a selection of contemporary works from across the world, drawn from the gallery's own collection. Initially intended to be temporary, it has proven so popular it will continue to be displayed for the forseeable future.
The star of the exhibition is Archive of mind, a hands-on installation by South Korean conceptual artist Kimsooja welcoming visitors to shape a sphere from clay. Together, the many balls represent artists' creation of worlds, and the connections artworks create – themes that continue throughout the rest of the exhibition.
Also on show are works by Swiss-born artist Ugo Rondinone, Meriam artist Gail Mabo and Indian artist Reena Saini Kallat.
