Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art 2018

Thu 18th October, 2018 – Sun 28th October, 2018
Price: $20–$40
A 10-day program of innovative art from across Australia and the Asia Pacific.

The theme of this year’s Liveworks Festival is “bodies at the edge”, and the line-up of works and events will showcase boundary pushing artists from Australia and the region.

Performance Space has co-commissioned two major new works, with Singapore’s The Esplanade and the newly built National Arts Centre Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

These are the Australian premiere of xhe, a collision of dance, sculpture and live electronic music by Singapore-born and Berlin-based choreographer Daniel Kok and Japanese artist and designer Miho Shimizu; and Indonesian dancer Rianto’s full-length solo performance Medium, another Australian first.

Melbourne performance artist, writer and director Nicola Gunn will put on her work Working With Children in Sydney for the first time, and Sydney-based interdisciplinary artist John A Douglas will perform new work the Circles of Fire: The Amphitheatre. The four-part piece explores chronic illness, treatment and recovery, drawing on his kidney-transplant experience.
