Handle live bees and their honey at a hands-on honeybee workshop.

The Urban Beehive is hosting beekeeping workshops. The two-hour event includes a guided seminar with a professional apiarist who will take guests through the importance of bee sustainability and related fun facts. You’ll also get to dress up like a beekeeper – mask and all – and learn how to handle frames from a hive with live honeybees. And there’s a jar of honey in it for you at the end.

Bees are under threat, so it’s never been more important to get interested in them. More than just bearers of the sweet and viscous, they play a vital role in the world’s ecosystem by pollinating flowers and plants. Recent climate change studies say bees and other insects – including butterflies, moths and dung-beetles – are at risk of extinction.
