Exhibition: Kings Cross in the '70s
Australian photographer Rennie Ellis was famous for his intimate documentation of Australian society throughout his illustrious career. The Mossgreen Gallery in Woollahra is currently showing Ellis's first-ever photography exhibition, featuring images that will change the way think about the Cross.
Manuela Furci of the Rennie Ellis Photographic Archive was a close friend of Ellis’s for more than 20 years, and at one point worked as his photographic assistant. She spoke to us about how the show came about: “It was very important for me to ensure that Rennie's body of work was not lost – that it was brought back to life for people to see.”
When the show opened last week several visitors were surprise to recognise some of the faces in the photographs, more than 40 years later.
