Sama Sama x Kinhboy
La Niña may be over, but the cold weather still has us curling by the fire. But when it comes to liquid warmth, what’s more comforting than a steaming bowl of pho?
With a focus on Southeast Asian flavours, Redfern’s Kinhboy is taking over lunch service at Sama Sama and bringing the streets of Vietnam to Barangaroo.
Start with small plates such as prawn and pork rice paper rolls, Hanoi vegetable spring rolls, and mud crab dumplings with scallop swimming in tom yum broth.
For those who love bun or vermicelli noodle salads, there are three to choose from: seared charcoal chicken, tender crackling pork or vegetable spring rolls. Or swap the warmth of the fireplace for the warmth of a meaty broth of beef short rib or chicken pho.
Larger menu items include special fried rice with Chinese sausage, pickled mustard and shallots; Angus shaking beef (bo luc lac) with pepper sauce; and a seafood mi xao (stir-fried noodles with tiger prawns and broccoli).
And while you won’t be sunbathing on an idyllic beach, these colourful Asian-inspired cocktails will take you there: sip on a Bloody Lychee Spritz with lychee liqueur, blood orange gin and prosecco, or a Pineapple Old Fashioned with Plantation pineapple rum.
Kinhboy’s menu will be on offer at Sama Sama for lunch from Tuesday to Friday, but the restaurant’s regular menu is still available for dinner.
