3pm–4pm
213 Clarence Street, Sydney
Price: $80 for Broadsheet Access members
Broadsheet Access members can join the crew at Bar Herbs for a classic cocktail masterclass on Saturday March 14. The one-off workshop is designed to upgrade your home bartending skills – and help settle the gin versus vodka debate once and for all.
The newly Hotlisted Bar Herbs – which opened in May last year – specialises in a deep roster of cocktails from the Martini phylum, including Gibsons, Espresso Martinis and more. And like its siblings in the Mucho Group, which includes Cantina Ok, Centro 86 and Bar Planet, it takes cocktails (and fun) pretty seriously.
The hour-long session kicks off with a Martini and soda welcome drink then takes guests through everything that makes a stand-out Martini, guided by Mucho’s “Martini Your Way” philosophy. Starting with a quick intro and a look back at the drink’s history, the Bar Herbs team will cover the essentials: the choice between gin or vodka, the role of vermouth and other aromatics, and when a citrus twist or olive works best.
Then it’s a dive into the finer details that make a Martini memorable – the right temperature, balance, and what “dry” really means – so everyone leaves confident in tailoring their Martini exactly how they like it. Plus, guests will get a chance to make and drink two Martinis of their own – a Herbs Martini and a Gibson.
Sound good? Log in or join Broadsheet Access today to secure your invite. Tickets will be extremely limited, so get in quick to avoid missing out.
