Intertidal by Milly Dent Launch Party at Poor Toms Gin Hall
Sydney-based ceramicist Milly Dent has a penchant for the ocean, spending oodles of her free time by it and in it. Naturally, her work reflects the coastal landscape – its tidal pools, shifting shorelines, washed-up seaweed and sandy textures.
Her latest collection, Intertidal, celebrates her relationship with the ocean across a range of everyday pieces: bowls, cups, vases, platters and lamps. To celebrate its release, Dent is coming together with other local creatives for a night celebrating the creative community and exhibiting her pieces.
From 6pm, head to Poor Toms Gin Hall in Marrickville to explore – and purchase pieces from – the Intertidal collection alongside projected visuals by Amy Kraus and Daniel Lorenzo, live performances by nu-soul bassist and vocalist Sarah Homeh and clarinet-wielding DJ Clovis.
Aplenty is on food, with a menu taking cues from the ocean too. Expect focaccia Pugliese and sea purslane pesto, fried rice paper topped with furikake and taramasalata. Plus, Wapengo oysters and cheese from La Luna.
Tickets are $50 and include a Poor Toms cocktail – word is, it’ll be a mix of kombu-infused gin, grapefruit, thyme and nori. Not able to make the party? Intertidal will be on show at the gin hall over the weekend.
