A seasoned chef who used to work at the Royalton Hotel in New York re-creates some of the dishes he served to top celebrities, from Madonna and Anna Wintour to Karl Lagerfeld.

Veteran chef Jeff Schroeter (Bistro Moncur, Bayswater Brasserie) opened Beckett’s along with renowned theatre director Wendy Beckett last year. It’s a love letter to the opulent bistros and bars of Paris, New York and London in the 20th century – an era he knows well, having worked at different fine diners overseas in the ’90s.

During his time as sous chef at New York’s Royalton Hotel and chef de partie at London’s Savoy, he cooked dishes for different celebrity guests – now Schroeter is re-creating five of his all-star items for a special evening in the restaurant’s wine cellar.

Try Anna Wintour’s favourite scallop canape; the room service first course ordered by Johnny Depp and Kate Moss, featuring fresh crab gazpacho; the salmon that Madonna flew the chef down to Miami for; Calvin Klein’s regular beef filet mignon and foie gras power lunch; and a secret snack that became Karl Lagerfeld’s guilty pleasure. For dessert? A peach Melba creation ordered by Queen Elizabeth II.

Tickets are $230 (or $200 for Beckett's Clubhouse members) and include each course with either matched wines or non-alcoholic beverages.
