The Home Bushfire Relief Art Auction Exhibition

Wed 12th February, 2020
National Art School
Corner of Forbes and Burton Streets, Darlinghurst
Price: By donation
See (or bid on) works by Linda Jackson, Jenny Kee, Ben Quilty and a bunch of other top Australian artists. They’re auctioning them off for bushfire relief.

So far this bushfire season – which started in July, months earlier than usual – almost 5.5 million hectares have been burnt. People from all industries have put their hands up to help, with Sydney’s art community being the latest. The Home Bushfire Relief Art Auction, in partnership with Aon, National Art School and Sydney Contemporary, will bring together the works of more than 50 of the country’s top established and emerging artists on February 12 to raise money to help animals, humans and land affected by the bushfires.

Artists including Tony Albert, Del Kathryn Barton, Amrita Hepi, Linda Jackson, Jenny Kee, Janet Laurence, Fiona Lowry, Nell, Mike Parr, Ben Quilty, Reko Rennie and John Wolseley have donated new and existing works across the mediums of painting, photography and sculpture. The works will be displayed in the Main Gallery of the National Art School in Darlinghurst on February 12 from 7pm to 10pm, and bidding will be done in an online silent auction from February 4 until February 12 at 10pm.

The exhibition of the works will be open to the public, and entry by donation, with those funds also donated to bushfire relief. Expect DJ sets from Client Liaison, Gemma (Club Kooky), Marcus King and Keep Sydney Open’s Tyson Koh. Love Can, Cake Wines and Young Henrys will be on drinks duties.

All proceeds will be divided between three organisations: WWF Australia, the Climate Council and Firesticks Alliance. They have been chosen because of their responsible responses to the bushfires and their forward-thinking approaches to Australia’s future.

Register for event tickets here. Entry is by donation.

From 7pm to 10pm.
