Australia’s leading photography event, Head On Photo Festival, is turning 10, and it’s curated its biggest program to date.
The works of 1064 Australian and international photographers will be showcased at more than 100 exhibitions between May 4 and May 19.
Highlights include Select Helmut Newton, featuring the work of renowned fashion photographer Helmut Newton whose stylish, often erotic photographs have appeared in the pages of Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and Playboy.
Rock 'n' Roll Heroes will showcase iconic images by renowned Japanese artist Masayoshi Sukita, who is known for photographing David Bowie for more than 40 years.
And the winners of Head On’s annual awards, plus more than $60,000 in prizes, will be announced at a free launch party on May 3.
There’s also a full-day workshop for budding travel photographers and program of six panel discussions led by top photographers, journalists and industry professionals, covering topics such as censorship, the future of photojournalism, and complexities of nude photography.
