A critically acclaimed musical featuring the reimagined songs of Bob Dylan comes to Sydney’s Theatre Royal – and the run has just been extended.

Since debuting at the Old Vic in London in 2017, modern musical Girl From the North Country - named after the second song on Dylan’s classic 1963 album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan – has enjoyed sold out seasons in the West End, Toronto and Broadway.

Set in 1934 Minnesota, USA, the musical sees a group of wanderer’s cross paths at a guesthouse during the Great Depression. With the songs of Dylan as its driving force, the cast detail turning points in their lives while realising nothing is what it seems. As they search for a future, and hide from the past, they find themselves facing unspoken truths about the present.

Written and directed by multi award-winner Conor McPherson (The Weir, The Seafarer), the musical is built around the iconic songs of Dylan, and stars Lisa McCune (Cabaret, Guys and Dolls), Zahra Newman (The Book of Mormon, Wentworth), Terence Crawford (Escape from Pretoria, The Babadook), and Helpmann Award winners Helen Dallimore and Peter Carroll.

And after a stellar first month, Girl From The North Country's run at Theatre Royal Sydney has been extended – new tickets have been released for shows until March 19.
