A German Winter Wonderland
The German International School in Terrey Hills is transforming its classrooms and playgrounds into a night-time wonderland.
A German Christmas Market will providing stalls for early shopping, as well as food and entertainment under twinkly lights to mirror a frosty European Xmas.
The wafting smells of traditional German foods and beverages will bring a piece of Germany to Australia. Bratwurst, pretzels, beer, gluhwein (mulled wine) and more are on the menu made by the local international students.
There will be performances from the Nova Youth Choir and NB Dance Company, as well as a Scholastic Book Fair, story time and puppet theatre, followed by the customary lantern walk which anyone is welcome to participate in.
Markets will be selling a variety of authentic German crafts including handmade ornaments, candles, homewares, books and games. After the festivities, children can enjoy a disco while the adults have toasted marshmallows, sugared almonds and hot chocolate around an open bonfire.
The festival begins at 5pm. Parking is $5 at Terrey Hills Public School.
