Free City Art Walking Tours
Encounter a dazzling array of public art hidden around the city, thanks to an interactive trio of free walking tours organised by City of Sydney.
With a night tour of Chinatown already fully booked out in all its sessions, jump in quick to grab sessions still available for Hidden in Plain Sight, a two-hour evening jaunt departing from Customs House. From laneways and buildings to pavement and footpath, the journey encompasses newly commissioned art in the form of sculptures, installations and digital works – with a focus on how these acts of expression are integrated into their urban surrounds.
A third tour, We Are All Astonishingly Wise, is led by artist Katy B Plummer, who will unpack her interactive fortune-telling piece. The Abercrombie Lane artwork invites visitors to receive a unique personal reading from a towering digital ghost. Starting at Macquarie Place Park and concluding at Hyde Park Barracks, Plummer will also lead the group to other integrated pieces like Tracey Emin’s The Distance of Your Heart and Lara Schnitger’s Patchwork of Light. The tour runs with the option of both morning and evening sessions.
