India is enduring a catastrophic healthcare crisis, as its medical system struggles under the pressure of a second wave of Covid-19. New Oxford Street eatery Cafe Freda’s is stepping up to the plate, raising funds to directly help those in need of aid via a Sunday-afternoon Indian feast.
For $45, diners will enjoy a family-style vegetarian meal by the venue’s head chef Xinyi Lim, including flatbread, curry, chutney, rice and dessert. One hundred per cent of proceeds from the food will be split between two India-based non-profit organisations: the Hemkunt Foundation, which is supplying much-needed oxygen cylinders to Covid sufferers, and Goonj, which provides food and medical support to marginalised communities, including migrants, transgender people, sex workers and artisans.
From 12pm to 9pm.
