If you know the difference between brogues and penny loafers then you’ve probably heard of Double Monk. It’s a mecca for impeccable men’s Goodyear-welted shoes and high-end accessories, and will be hosting English shoemaker John Lobb’s first Australian trunk shows in July.
John Lobb has dressed the feet of four generations of British royalty in its exotic leathers. Now, Double Monk is bringing some of the shoemaker’s vast archive of current and past designs to its Sydney store from July 3 to 7.
The five-day trunk show will be an intimate gallery-style shopping experience. Customers are invited to book consultations with Double Monk’s shoe experts to be guided through hundreds of Lobb’s styles. Once you’ve chosen the colour, material and detailing of your custom-made Lobbs, Double Monk will waive the usual $395 fee for made-to-order shoes.
John Lobb’s shoes are a labour of love; so expect your custom-built babies to be ready three to four months from ordering. And as shoe shopping can be a laborious duty, customers can unwind with whisky tastings at Double Monk during the show.
The John Lobb Trunk Show will take place during store hours at Double Monk’s Sydney store July 3–7.
