Danielle Alvarez is one of Australia’s most respected chefs. After stints at legendary Californian restaurants Chez Panisse and The French Laundry, the American moved to Sydney, where she led the kitchen at Fred’s. These days she’s culinary director of the Sydney Opera House and also has two cookbooks to her name.
For Broadsheet ’s inaugural Dine Out festival, Alvarez is popping up at Refettorio Ozharvest, a donated Victorian-era terrace where the food charity provides free three-course vegetarian lunches to those in need, using ingredients diverted from landfill.
Accordingly, the event menu is entirely vegetarian and will include a snack and three courses, all made using 95 per cent Ozharvest rescue ingredients. Each ticket sold funds at least six meals during Refettorio Ozharvest’s daytime service. Book now before this one sells out.
