Chivas Regal – The Blend Workshop and Tasting Session
If you’ve ever wanted to blend your own whisky without having to go through the time-consuming rigmarole of founding your own distillery – or even leaving the comfort of your local – here’s an opportunity worth noting.
Esteemed Scottish whisky Chivas is launching a series of whisky-tasting sessions and workshops at some of the city’s best venues, designed to educate drinkers on the art of blending whisky. It comes hot on the heels of the label’s new Chivas XV, a 15-year-old blended Scotch whisky finished in the prized Grande Champagne cognac casks (and packaged in a gold bottle) to create a “uniquely refined fruity and velvety interpretation” of the Chivas house style.
Whisky fans can expect the works at these workshops taking place in select bars throughout November, January and March.
After receiving nibbles and a signature cocktail upon arrival, guests will be taken through the art of blending by Chivas brand ambassador Hollie Atkinson, tasting four single-malt whiskies and one single-grain whisky to familiarise themselves with different flavour profiles of the traditional Chivas Blend. You’ll then be tasked with blending your own expression of the whisky, finishing with your very own 200-millilitre blend to take home.
The Blend by Chivas experience comes to just four venues in Sydney: moody Wild Rover in Surry Hills; the heritage-listed whisky-experts at Doss House in The Rocks; the multi-roomed playground that is The East Village in Darlinghurst; and The Roosevelt in Potts Point, a serious player in the premium cocktail scene.
Tickets are $85 and can be booked online. Whisky enthusiasts of all stripes welcome.
