The Welsh artist, sculptor and filmmaker, celebrated for his conceptual use of light and sound, brings decades of practice to Sydney in his first major exhibition in the Asia-Pacific.

Internationally celebrated for his visionary sculptural practice, Cerith Wyn Evans brings his first comprehensive exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region to Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art Australia this winter.

Cerith Wyn Evans.… in light of the visible transforms the MCA into an expansive, contemplative journey through monumental light and sound sculptures. Conceived like a stroll through a garden, the show invites visitors to slow down and engage deeply with time, perception and space. Expect large-scale neon “drawings in space”; refined sound installations, including a sculpture of 37 “breathing” glass pipes; and a series of site-specific works responding directly to the atmosphere of Warrane (Sydney Cove).

Many of the featured works are being seen in Australia for the first time, alongside several new works created especially for this exhibition.

A full program of talks, tours and film screenings will accompany the show, including dance and meditation programs, curator tours and performances by musicians from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The museum will also stay open until 9pm on Saturday June 7 and 14.

Find out more at the MCA Australia website – and book before June 6 for 20 per cent off the regular ticket price.
