Celluloid Dreams at Dendy Newtown
While digital has been the medium of choice for decades now, analogue isn’t going anywhere. If anything, it’s having a renaissance: think of vinyl records, film cameras and movies filmed on 35-millimetre prints.
Now Dendy Newtown has sourced some original film prints of classic flicks to present them just as the directors intended: projected from celluloid onto the big screen.
They’re running once a month, with a stellar line-up of cinema gems. Catch Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich in The Fifth Element on January 24; 1959 religious epic Ben-Hur on February 28; David Lynch's neo-noir thriller Blue Velvet on March 28; Clint Eastwood-starring Dirty Harry on May 2; classic 1960s road drama Easy Rider on May 30; sci-fi action flick Robocop on June 27; and French crime drama La Haine on July 14 for Bastille Day.
Tickets for all seven screenings are available now. Screening times vary.
