For one night only in May, Broadsheet is curating Aotearoa Awaits – a portal to New Zealand in the heart of Sydney.
Through an immersive celebration of New Zealand’s culinary, cultural and artistic offering, Surry Hills’ Paramount House will be transformed into an experience that transports guests across the Tasman.
On Thursday May 26 from 6-9pm the venue’s Golden Age Cinema & Bar and Paramount Recreation Club will become Aotearoa Awaits, a portal to New Zealand's food, wine, art and culture. Upon arrival, guests will be walked through the space by hosts, or they can choose to explore the experience at their own pace.
The evening will feature a Māori welcome, before punters head to the rooftop for wines curated by New Zealand-wine guru Max Walker of Paranormal Wines in Canberra, and snacks by New Zealand-born chef Amber Doig (The Butler) utilising native New Zealand ingredients. Elsewhere, experience the sounds, tastes and smells of a night out in Auckland with specialty drinks and snacks by Auckland’s wine bar and neo-bistro Bar Celeste, live art by Wellington-based musician-anthropologist and rising pop producer Estere and DJ sets from Melbourne-based, Wellington-born Natalie Ex.
Expect artistic influences by Whanganui-born visual artist and storyteller Jade Townsend and many other Kiwi-related surprises.
Broadsheet is offering the chance to win one of 30 double passes to the event. See how to enter.
Entries close 23:00 on Thursday 19 May 2022. Terms and conditions apply.
