Bon Fromage, a cheese festival supported by the actual European Union, is back this year with a full weekend of masterclasses, demonstrations and tastings.
The festival is dedicated to the finest cheeses from France – Beaufort, brie, camembert, emmental, Roquefort and more. Over a tonne of free cheese will be given away to punters, and there’ll be loads of other cheeses available to purchase.
The free masterclasses will cover wine-and-cheese matching, the difference between creamy and stinky cheeses, and the storied history of French cheese.
A bunch of Sydney cafes and restaurants will be serving food at the event. There’ll be a cheese dessert from Koi Dessert Bar; French cheeseburgers by BL Burgers; raclette from Loluk Bistro; and cheese platters from Formaggi Ocello, Simon Johnson and The Artisan Cheese Room. There’ll also be a wine bar on-site.
The festival opens on Friday with a session running from 5pm to 7.30pm. Saturday and Sunday will have two sessions each, one from 10.30am to 2pm and another from 2.30pm to 6:30pm. Entry is free.
