Bombay Sapphire Canvas Bar at Liveworks

Thu 17th October, 2019 – Sun 27th October, 2019
245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh, NSW 2015
An experimental space in a truly unpredictable festival.

This October, an illuminating program of performances, installations, parties, workshops and conversations will consume Carriageworks as Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art takes over.

At the heart of the 10-day festival of experimental art is the Bombay Sapphire Canvas Bar, which – in addition to serving up ginger and mint G&Ts and Bombay Negronis – will host Sonic Nightcap, a free late-night music program featuring DJs, sound artists, live acts and multimedia artists. The pop-up, created as part of the Bombay Sapphire’s ‘Stir Creativity’ campaign, is Liveworks’ first late-night offering.

Opening the Sonic Nightcap series on October 17 will be Rainbow Chan and Alex Ward’s beloved electronic two-piece DIN, and Wiradjuri writer-DJ Sovereign Trax playing exclusively First Nations Hip Hop, $overeign trap, Indigenous electronic sounds and 00’s remixes.

Another highlight of the Canvas Bar will be Live Sparks, a forum for Liveworks headliner artists to discuss the ideas and inspirations behind their work – featuring Vicki Van Hout, Betty Grumble, Jo Lloyd, Joel Bray, John Vea and Th3 Order (Jermaine Dean, Jaimie Waititi and Julian Chot).

Expect plenty of other killer acts throughout the festival, including multidisciplinary artist Bhenji Ra’s House of Slé; award-winning composer and sound artist Alyx Dennison; a DJ set from Australian singer-songwriter Chela; Melbourne’s sonic-expanding Le Fag resident, Female Wizard; and Brooklyn-based harpist, producer, dancer and vocalist ELSZ.
