Bistro on a Bike
Redfern’s French-style bistro St Jacques has launched a new bike-delivery service, which will deliver at-home French lunches and dinners within a five-kilometre radius of the restaurant.
There are a few Bistro on a Bike options: one of two pre-packed aperitif-hour hampers, or anything from the a la carte menu – for the full French-bistro experience. And you can tack on a magnum of wine to all of them.
Hamper one includes house-baked baguette with seasoned butter; olives; freshly shucked Pambula oysters; roasted Swiss brown mushrooms; chickpeas and broccoli with pickled green chilli, preserved lemon and herbed fromage frais; and scorched duck-liver parfait with orange marmalade.
And hamper two is slightly more expansive with a selection of European and Australian cheeses; house-baked bread and quince paste; oysters; a selection of cold cuts and scorched duck-liver parfait; and a seasonal salad.
Each hamper caters for around four people and costs $95 and $120, respectively, including.
The a la carte menu includes all dishes such as twice-backed goat’s cheese soufflé; slow-cooked onion soup; confit duck leg cassoulet, and steak frites.
Add a bottle of organic small-batch wines from France, Italy, Australia or New Zealand from $40, or a magnum (1.5 litres) from $135.
Bistro on a Bike is available for dinner Wednesday to Sunday and for lunch Friday to Sunday. Those outside the five-kilometre delivery zone can pick up, too.
