The akubra-donning pair behind Australia's favourite newspaper have written a book – and they’re hitting the road to give us the rundown.

It’s been a turbulent few years in the news – three Prime Ministers in four years, a ball-tampering scandal, the cancellation of the AFL Footy Show. And far-west Queensland’s Betoota Advocate has been there every step of the way.

The trusty publication covers political, cultural and sporting happenings that matter to Australians with authenticity and a journalistic rigour few larger publications can claim. Recent headlines include: “Emergence of Mince Pies in Supermarket Heralds Start of Inner-City Leftie’s War on Christmas”, “‘It Was Before All That Stuff in Cronulla,’ Says Man With Southern Cross Tattoo” and “Pauline Hanson Tells Great Barrier Reef It’s Okay to Be White”.

In a penetrating new book, How Good’s Australia, editors Clancy Overell and Errol Parker have pulled apart what's gone down over the past four years, reflecting on the country’s journey through chaos and confusion into the start of a new era.

To launch the book in style, the pair are heading to the big smoke to tell us all about it. Over almost two hours, Overell and Parker will chat through how bad things got, and how lucky we as a nation have been to survive it all.

From 7.30pm.
