Now in its 30th year, the Balmoral Swim is the kind of event that really gets the community rolling up their sleeves (and pants). Organised by the volunteers of the Balmoral Beach Club, the Mosman council and Balmoral Sea Scouts, the event aims to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Institute’s Zero Childhood Cancer program. Money raised will help conduct research to establish Australia’s first customised medicine program for children with high-risk or relapsed cancer.
Join more than 1000 fellow water babies in Sydney Harbour, and choose between a one-kilometre, two-kilometre, or five-kilometre swim. There’s also a corporate challenge, a school relay and a junior swim option. Artist Ken Done has designed swimsuits featuring the Balmoral landscape for entrants to don.
For those who don’t want to practise their butterfly stroke, there’s always the option of enjoying the live music and food stalls.
