Artbar Summer at MCA
The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia’s (MCA) after-dark Artbar series is back for a summer edition. Opening the doors to all its levels, the Museum is throwing a sweat-themed party for one evening with live music, artworks, talks, performances and installations – all curated by Sydney-based contemporary artist and writer JD Reforma.
Take a wander through the main Tacita Dean exhibition – featuring the British artist’s renowned film and photography works – before exploring Jazz Money’s All Ours Seasons installation in the stairwell. There’s also an inflatable installation by Queensland-based artist Visaya Hoffie on the ground floor and immersive digital works by Serwah Attafuah projected on level three.
To grab drinks and nibbles, head to the MCA Cafe for a clutch of cocktails, beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks as well as a late-night food menu. Or head down to level two for the Glory Hole bar installation serving bubbles among other tipples.
The evening will also feature a host of musical performances including DJ sets by Ari Kiko and Wicked Bandit and dance performances by Morgan Hogg and cabaret performer Nini Voss. Punk metal band TBX will also take the rooftop followed by electronic avant-pop duo Patamon. Plus, enjoy an AI-powered visual and sonic piece by Anso and Kopi Su.
From 7pm to 11pm.
