If it’s been a while since you last went to a drive-in movie, you may have forgotten what the food is usually like; buckets of carbonated drinks, greasy burgers and hot dogs and popcorn in gargantuan sizes – often regretted almost immediately afterwards.

Enter the Magic Mobile Drive-in, Honda’s drive-in cinema with some special food trucks in tow. The fleet includes Tsuru Asian street food, bringing its signature pork-belly buns and offering flavours perfectly suited to an almost-summer evening. For the Americana side of things, Eat Art Truck will provide the crispy fried chicken, cheeseburgers and pulled pork. Also representing classic American fast food will be the Nighthawk Diner. Founded by a couple of young chefs with backgrounds in French fine dining who are both borderline-obsessed with American culture, Nighthawk Diner makes all ingredients from scratch (including their buns) and is known for their tweaked American burger classics and amazing Philly Cheesesteaks.

And because our elongated summer days mean more waking hours and some down-time before the silver screen comes alive, mobile cafe Lord of the Beans will ensure you’re caffeinated enough to make it through the movie.

For this date night all you have to do is jump in your car and go. It’s also got an element of mystery to it: the location of the cinema is kept secret until 48 hours before the screening (check the website to see how far the drive will be from you). Entry is only available via ballot but if you win it’s your ticket to a perfect summer experience, with some mighty-fine food to boot.
