Melbourne electronic producer Nick Murphy made an international name for himself as Chet Faker.

Today he announced on Facebook and Twitter he’ll be ditching that moniker and releasing music under his real name.

“Its been half a decade since I started releasing music as Chet Faker and all of you have been the driving force behind the music since,” his post says. “Theres an evolution happening and I wanted to let you know where its going. the next record will be under my own name, Nick Murphy. Chet Faker will always be a part of the music. This is next.”

Murphy released his first EP under Chet Faker, Thinking in Textures in 2012 to a huge international response. He topped Triple J’s Hottest 100 in 2014 with single Talk is Cheap.
