Sydney’s Volumes Festival returns for a second year, and has doubled in size. The event will now take place over two days, on the weekend of August 26 and 27.
Put together by the people behind FBi Radio, Bedroom Suck Records, I Oh You and Rice is Nice, the festival is a cohesive experience of sound and vision, showcasing live music alongside visual electronic art.
The multi-stage, multi-venue festival will take place at Oxford Art Factory, The Cliff Dive, Brighton Up Bar and The Burdekin across six carefully constructed stages.
“The visual element of the festival is important because people have been to these places before,” says operations manager James Spink. “Combined with the music it will be a form of escapism. Being in a place they might know, but experiencing it differently.”
Choosing to highlight emerging artists rather than clinging to big names, the line-up consists of more than 80 performers, including Slum Sociable, Milwaukee Banks, Charles Murdoch, Rainbow Chan and The Harpoons among other digital artists, labels and collectives.
A second line-up announcement is expected in July.
