Starring Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss as detective Robin Griffin, the spooky and cinematic six-part crime drama Top of the Lake will shoot its second season in Sydney this year.

Co-written by New Zealander Jane Campion (of The Piano and Bright Star) and Gerard Lee (All Men are Liars), Top of the Lake's first season in 2013 was filmed and set among the breathtaking scenery of New Zealand. The story centres around a case involving the pregnancy and disappearance of a local 12-year-old girl, Tui. The series was filled with sweeping aerial shots over mountaintops and bodies of water paired with eerie and isolated wilderness. The series won Outstanding Cinematography for a Miniseries or Movie at the 2013 Emmy Awards, and was nominated for eight others.

See-Saw Films has confirmed that filming for a second series of Top of the Lake will commence in Sydney in December of this year, at locations undisclosed. Co-directed by Campion and another yet-to-be-named director, the cast is yet to be announced. Watch this space.
