A Southern Highlands Town Is Getting a Bridgerton Makeover Ahead of Season Three Dropping on Netflix

Netflix loves to tease its upcoming releases with a stunt of some kind. The streaming service once set up a Red Light Green Light game with a creepy doll in Sydney Harbour for Squid Game; it created a tentacled portal to the Upside Down on Bondi Beach for Stranger Things; and it ran a pop-up uniform shop in Newtown ahead of the first season of Heartbreak High.
Its latest promo is a whole-town takeover for season three of Bridgerton. Southern Highlands town Bowral will transform into Regency-era England for a week, until April 23. There’ll be bunting, floral decorations and events – such as a string quartet at bookstore Books Ever After and a carriage parked outside distillery Sohi – as well as a special garden party (already sold out) at Milton Park. Dirty Janes, The Press Shop cafe, Bespoke Press and Gumnut Patisserie are getting in on the theme with various offerings.
But the biggest drawcard for fans will be the chance to see the first episode of Bridgerton season three before anyone else. Bowral’s Event Cinemas is putting on four free screenings on Monday April 22 and Tuesday April 23. Reserve a seat here.
What’s this season all about? Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) is looking for a husband. She’s enlisted the help of long-term crush Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) to coach her in confidence … and poor, confused Colin doesn’t know how he feels about Penelope as she gains a bit more pep in her step. Complicating things, Penelope has an alter ego – Lady Whistledown – and it’s getting more difficult to keep that a secret.
Bridgerton streams on Netflix from May 16.
