Sydneysiders aren’t rich in storage space. If you can’t fit an entire camping kit under your bed, but don’t want to sacrifice waking up in the bush every so often, new company CampNow can help.
High-school mates Dan Courtnall and Nick Longworth launched CampNow late last year. Despite both having full-time jobs, they set up the website to help others escape their daily routines without forking out for an entire kit.
Courtnall doesn’t spend every weekend camping, but he’s a fan of getting outdoors. “I live in Bondi in a little shack, there’s not a lot of room. I just wanted someone to deliver [camping gear] like an Uber service,” he says about the site’s conception. “When we were researching camping stores, we found there were no easy packages and hardly any information about what to buy when you’re starting out. We’ve already thought of everything you need, and you won’t need to spend a thousand bucks.”
CampNow offers four kinds of simple camping rental packages, all of which can be delivered to and picked up from your home or work (in certain areas). If you’re heading to the Splendour or Secret Garden festivals, try the Festival Package, a trim kit for two including a two-person tent, a queen-sized air mattress and pillows, fold-up chairs, head torches, an Esky and a first-aid kit. Other packages include tables, camp stoves and bigger tent options if you’re taking kids along. The team is also looking into add-ons, such as gazebos for shade.
CampNow also has suggestions for beautiful campsites around NSW, such as spots in the Kangaroo Valley and up the North Coast. It’s a section of the site the team is wants to build on. In an effort to combat homelessness in Sydney, the CampNow team donates $2 from every order to the Salvation Army.
