The inner-city South Eveleigh precinct will host an all-day al fresco disco on December 3, as part of the Sydney’s Open for Lunch event that’s taking over the Sydney and Parramatta CBDs on the same day. Tickets include a dish from legendary Sydney chef Kylie Kwong and a cocktail from drinks master Matt Whiley.

The mirror-ball dance floor will host a line-up of DJs – including Original Roman vs Boogie Fingers, Levins vs Joyride, Ayebatonye, Deepa and Tyson Koh – from midday till 10pm.

Kwong will dish up a menu of Australian-Cantonese dishes from her South Eveleigh eatery Lucky Kwong. Expect hokkien noodles with raw hiramasa kingfish, sticky pork and native herbs sourced from South Eveleigh’s native rooftop farm (there’ll also be a vegetarian version), and a salad of five-spice tofu, fungus and veggies.

Meanwhile, Whiley will bring the zero-waste ethos he follows at his bar Re– to the event. Think a cocktail made with sherry-cask soda, coffee-chaff whisky, cardamom milk and sunrise lime, and another made with surplus fruit, gin, whole mango, ancho chilli, orange and cryo-strawberry gum. Red and white wine and Yulli’s Seabass lager will also be available.

Plus, you’ll be able to grab snacks from on-site eateries including Bekya, Eat Fuh and Fishbowl.

Sydney’s Open for Lunch is a joint initiative between Destination NSW and the NSW Government that’ll see main thoroughfares – including George Street in Sydney’s CBD and Parramatta Square – transformed into outdoor-dining venues.

South Eveleigh’s Al Fresco Disco is on December 3. There are two sessions, from 12pm–3pm and from 6pm–10pm. Tickets are now on sale.
