Due to the ongoing uncertainty of Sydney’s current lockdown, the NSW Government has put a pin in Vivid Sydney 2021, saying “Vivid Sydney 2022 will shine brighter than ever.”
The decision was made to cancel the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas to minimise the impact on event attendees, partners, artists, sponsors and suppliers.
Vivid Sydney 2022 is planned to return from May 27 to June 18.

SIGN UP“We thank everyone who has contributed to the planning for Vivid Sydney 2021. Of course, it’s incredibly disappointing to cancel for the second year but the most responsible decision was to cancel early, giving everyone certainty and minimising impacts where possible,” said the Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney, Stuart Ayres, in a statement.
So it’s back to the drawing board for event planners. Expressions of interest for Vivid Sydney 2022 open next week.
