Sailing away to the Greek Islands has been nigh impossible for the past two years. So, the team behind Wine Island is bringing Mykonos, Santorini and more to Sydney, with the launch of Greek Island.

The three-day celebration of all things Aegean, Mediterranean and Ionian runs from March 25 to 27, and begins with a ferry to Clark Island in Sydney Harbour. Disembark and you’ll be met with a selection of Greek-style tavernas, including one from Peter Conistis, the chef behind beloved CBD diner Alpha. A range of other eateries will be serving up plates of fried calamari, grilled octopus, spanakopita, souvlaki, gyros and more. Plus, East 33 will be shucking oysters all day long. You can even take those Greek cooking skills back to shore with you, thanks to free live-cooking demos.

The Greek influence runs through the drinks, too. There’ll be wines and beers from Greece, and cocktails with Greek flavours at “Yia Yia’s Bar”. There’s also ouzo and tsipouro bars to check out, as well as a Fever-Tree spritz bar.

And if your holiday mode is “party”, Greek Island brings all the carousing spirit of Mykonos. DJs Tigerlily and Jolyon Petch will provide tunes, alongside Daft Punk tribute act Discovery. Or head to “Mount Olympus” for traditional music and dancing. Top it off with a zip around the harbour on a jet boat or a massage at the on-site spa.

Tickets begin at $99 for the Premium Economy package, which includes ferries to and from the island from King Street Wharf, a welcome drink on the boat to the island, a tote bag and a tumbler. The next level of ticket ($199) gets you all of the above, plus a beach towel, a meal voucher, and free access, ouzo and wine tastings at the Corfu Beach Club.

Or, if you’ve been saving up for a holiday and have had nowhere to go, you can drop $3000 on a private waterfront cabana for the day for you and nine mates. The package includes a private waiter, two free jet-boat rides, a mezze plate, bottle of ouzo, 10 beers, two bottles of wine and, of course, ferries to and from the island.

Keen? Pre-sale tickets for Greek Island and Frontier members go on sale Monday November 22 at midday, and general public tickets are on sale Wednesday November 24 at midday. Be quick – Wine Island sold out in less than a day this year.
