Hospitality behemoth Merivale is getting involved in Vivid in a big way this year. It’s already announced a huge dinner party, catered by top chefs Dan Hong (Mr Wong, Ms G’s) and Mike Eggert (Totti’s), with an appearance by legendary artist Ken Done. And now it’s going full Vivid light-and-sound installation with Press Play, a new immersive experience taking over the two-level atrium of Ivy.

On June 7 and 8, the free installation will fill Ivy with kinetic lights and projections, ambient soundscapes by Joyride, fog, haze and live DJs. The event’s centrepiece will be 10 performers kitted out in incredible avant-garde costumes by fashion designer and stylist Kirsty Barros and the project’s creative lead, Alisha Rich. They incorporate inspiration as varied as Tokyo, Balenciaga’s experimental silhouettes, and the hypnotic collaboration between US sculptor Anthony Howe and boundary-pushing Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen.

The event is free to enter – and if you’ve been to Press Play and head along to Mumu, Bar Totti’s, Felix, Ash St Cellar, Mr Wong, Jimmy’s Falafel or Uccello after 9.30pm in a group of four or more, you’ll be shouted a round of cocktails.

Press Play runs at Ivy from 6pm on June 7 and 8.
