Ruben Guthrie
Premiering at the Sydney Film Festival, this movie shines a light on attitudes to drinking in Australia. Writer and director, Brendan Cowell, drew from his own experience when he decided to lay off the booze for a year. The film follows a Sydneysider who goes cold turkey and the reactions of his friends, family and colleagues. It’s funny, poignant and perhaps, for a lot of Australians, uncomfortably familiar.
