The crypt has been prised open on the 2017 line up for Dark Mofo, Mona’s brooding winter arts festival. Emerging from the depths comes Norwegian metal outfit Ulver.

Ulver (which means “wolves” in Norwegian) was an early pioneer of black metal, although over the past 25 years it has explored classical, blues and folk traditions alongside avant-garde electronic experiments.

The band’s Hobart appearance will closely follow the April release of its new record The Assassination of Julius Caesar, so expect plenty of new aural sludge to fill the halls of the Grand Odeon Theatre in early June.

Tickets go on sale here Tuesday 11 April.
