This Christmas, one of Sydney’s most beautiful buildings is opening a rooftop space not usually accessible to the public for three nights of cinema. From December 5 to 7, the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) will host “Cine-mas” under the stars. Watch an animated Tom Hanks in Polar Express, cheer along Macaulay Culkin as he fights off intruders in Home Alone and grimace at Will Ferrell's hilariously naive character in Elf.
Each night there’ll be two screenings: a family-friendly film at 6.30pm and an over-18s session at 9pm. Add $25 to your ticket for lollies from QVB chocolatier and patisserie La Belle Miette, and a glass of wine or beer. For an extra $75, you'll get the sweets plus a two-course dinner and glass of wine at the building's whisky bar, Esquire, before or after the film. All guests are eligible for a 20 per cent discount on drinks and dinner at Esquire.
For now, the cinema will run for just the three nights in December, but there are plans afoot to bring it back in 2020.
Tickets are now on sale here.
