While most of the details are still under wraps, a medieval feast, complete with knights, tavern wenches, lords and ladies is on its way to a location in the heart of Sydney.

Beyond Cinema – an immersive event company inviting you to be a part of the action – will host an elaborate dinner in October, The Red Wedding Banquet, inspired by the infamous Game of Thrones episode, The Rains of Castamere.

The Emmy-nominated episode (from the third season) ended in a wedding day massacre, when Lord Walder Frey sought revenge against Robb Stark (played by Richard Madden) for breaking a marriage pact between two powerful families. This banquet will hopefully have a happier ending.

Get ready to be transported into the Middle Ages with medieval music and entertainment from court jesters, tableside. The menu will feature the traditional medieval banquet dishes you’d expect – we’ve been promised roast meats and plenty of wine. Actors will play out a few beheadings in-between courses, too.

Beyond Cinema is the same group responsible for turning a Melbourne building into a jail to recreate The Shawshank Redemption, while also taking 1000 people aboard a cruise ship on Sydney Harbour to relive James Cameron’s 1997 film Titanic. The latter saw a three-course meal played out in a grand dining room, before a simulated sinking. The one-night-only affair was spread across five hours and involved a mix of theatre and cinema, with actors in various guises making the experience as realistic as possible.

The date and location for The Red Wedding Banquet has not yet been announced, but the month of October is locked in.
