Going down to Hello Kitty Town
Darling Square’s celebration of all things Hello Kitty continues with the launch of new Hello Kitty-themed dishes. Dopa By Devon is contributing an ice-cream sandwich: strawberry-and-cream ice-cream in between two Makmak shortbread biscuits stamped with an image of Hello Kitty. Over at Iiko Mazesoba, there’s a hiyashi chuka (cold ramen) made with a pink-hued egg and Hello Kitty-embossed nori. And Pancakes on the Rocks is doing five themed pancake dishes. Darling Square’s Hello Kitty takeover runs until April 29. darlingsq.com

Not enough truff
If Australia’s winter truffle season isn’t long enough for you, Devon Barangaroo and North Sydney have the answer: a summer truffle menu – with the black beauties imported from Valencia in Spain. Add truffle to any dish from Devon’s menu, or go all-in and select from its dedicated truffle menu. It includes a truffle and Wagyu katsu sando, truffle omurice, curly fries with truffle, and a truffle-topped sundae. The menu is available until April. devoncafe.com.au

Go for gold
New Martin Place steakhouse Botswana Butchery is serving a special “gold” menu ($500 per person) in its Gold Private Dining Room. The ultra-luxe meal starts with a bump of gold-topped Siberian caviar and a vodka shot, followed by oysters. The centrepiece of the menu is a marble-score 7 Wagyu ribeye from Rangers Valley, entirely coated in gold leaf. A layered chocolate dessert is also finished in gold leaf, and diners can sip on gold-flecked Martinis and Perrier-Jouet blanc de blanc. botswanabutchery.com.au

Thick and juicy
Sure, you could say “I love you” to your partner with flowers this Valentine’s Day. But that’s a bit rote. Instead, why not order your paramour a one-kilogram, heart-shaped “lovefetti” choc-chip cookie ($40) from Thicc Cookies. This chunk of a biscuit is crunchy on the outside with good chew in the middle, and is best eaten warmed up in the oven. Order by midnight on February 13 for Sydney metro deliveries. bigandthicc.com.au

Meat street
If plant-based ain’t your bag, this one’s for you: The Bavarian – which has more than 10 venues across Sydney – is doing an all-you-can-eat meat and drinks deal ($79 per person) all February. The group is offering two hours of unlimited cocktails, beer, wine and cider, plus bottomless plates of pork belly, chicken schnitzel, German sausages, wings and sides. thebavarians.com
