Join the high rollers
Opulent Cantonese restaurant Silks, in Crown Sydney, has put together an ultra-luxe set menu ($388) to ring in the Year of the Tiger. Start with yee sang (prosperity toss salad), traditionally eaten in several countries during Lunar New Year celebrations. Here, it comes with Tasmanian ocean trout, braised abalone and flying-fish roe. You’ll also enjoy roast suckling pig with king-prawn toast and caviar; sauteed lobster with longevity noodles; and ginger and shallot steamed coral trout (fish symbolises abundance). Feeling plush? Opt for the Penfolds wine pairing ($380), which includes some of the winemaker’s most impressive drops. crownsydney.com.au

A very lucky meal
Spice Temple Sydney is marking Lunar New Year with a 10-dish banquet ($139) designed to bring good luck and prosperity for the year ahead. Feast on purse-shaped pipis that symbolise fortune, served with pork and Shaoxing wine, and pickled cherry tomatoes with dark soy (in China, red symbolises luck and happiness). Guests opting for the banquet also get a cocktail upon arrival. spicetemple.com.au

Lotus lammos
Lotus Dining Group’s Lunar New Year special is a little different – a collaboration with Tokyo Lamington on three limited-edition Year of the Tiger flavours. The Tiger involves black sponge cake striped with yuzu and sesame cream, with an orange curd centre, dipped in white chocolate. Another lamington is made with vanilla sponge, a crushed fortune cookie and white-chocolate mousse, topped with a lucky red fortune cookie, while The Lychee lamington’s vanilla sponge is studded with lychee pieces and filled with lychee cream. They’re available until February 13 for dine-in at Lotus restaurants across Sydney, to take away from Lotus The Galeries and home-delivered via Providoor. lotusdininggroup.com
