Features
Kirsty Wirth, Annie Sturmann and Chantel Toutounji have been serving toasties and sandwiches at their beloved Cronulla cafe for years. This second Loaf-cation in Engadine, opened in 2024, stays true to the ethos they started with: generous portions, using the best produce they can find and fair prices across the board.
As at the original, every sandwich here is made to order and comes packed with market produce. Jaffles – such as the ham and cheese with truffle mayo and the ‘risk it for the brisket’ with double cheese and onion jam – are morning faves. For lunch, don’t look past the best-selling spiced schnitzel sandwich with greens (add caramelised carrots for the win) or the slow-cooked beef sandwich packed with hot chips and salsa verde. Neither will leave you hungry, and both are just $16.
House brews are courtesy of White Horse Coffee, and you can add a drop of medicinal mushrooms to give your brain a boost. There are iced drinks like matcha and fresh-pressed juice, too. The lively atmosphere is geared up for takeaway, but if you’re hoping to take a beat, there’s outdoor seating which traps the sun. Inside, it’s pretty in pink – with pastel tiles and archways.
